Work on the Viaduct over the River Narcea at the Dóriga-Cornellana section of the A-63 Highway from Oviedo to La Espina, owned by the Ministry of Public Works and built by Acciona infraestructuras according to the design and technical construction assistance of Carlos Fernández Casado, SL, is progressing rapidly.
The bridge has 6 no. piers, of which the six sections are being built using the balanced cantilever method. Pier P2, with cantilevers of 2×70 m and P6, with cantilevers of 2×55 m, have been completed and piers P1 (2x 55 m) and P5 (2×40 m) are currently underway, leaving the two central cantilevers, each of 2×85 m for the end. The result will be an 875 m long bridge, with spans of 100 + 130 + 160 + 175 + 130 + 100 + 80, a maximum pier height of 64.0 m and deck with a width of 23.20 m, with a single box and the central box and spans being carried out in one single phase.
