The final countdown has begun for the towers on the Gordie Howe International Bridge project to reach their final height. While the tower on the U.S. side has already reached its final height of 772 feet (220 meters) with the last concrete pour, the tower on the Canadian side will begin its final steps during this month of September.
This adventure began in 2019 with underground work to construct six pillars for each “tower leg,” which were drilled into the bedrock to a depth of 118 feet (36 meters), a height equivalent to an 11-storey building.

Currently, twenty-seven anchor boxes and eight formwork boxes are being installed within the pylon head to support the stay cables that will bear the bridge deck and, consequently, its future roadway.
