Footbridge María Rosa Ferrer Obiols. Andorra la Vella. Andorra. 2021.
The footbridge is located in Andorra la Vella and connects the Plaça del Poble and the Nou Consell building. The length of the structure is 30.3 m divided into two spans of 14.9 m and 15.4 m, supported on a variable-edged pier.
The deck is a variable-edged section formed by the intersection of two horizontal cylinders with an asymmetrical triangular section with a 90 cm edge. This section is the one that remains in the area of the pier, with a depth of 35 cm at the abutments.
The pile has a length of 16 m, starting with a 1.40 m edge section formed by two 60 cm diameter half-pipes joined with lateral plates that vary in length until a circular section is left in the area where it is embedded in the deck.
The entire structure is made of metal, as the location is in the centre of the city and the construction had to have as little impact as possible.
The footbridge was inaugurated on 11 June last, in honour of María Rosa Ferrer Obiols, who was Mayor, Minister and General Councillor of Andorra.
